Vehicle Classes: Pick the Right Test for Every Race Mode

A pre-release Star Wars Galactic Racer guide to landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, podracers, Arcade, Scenarios, and 12-player races.

Last verified

STAR WARS: Galactic Racer has four named vehicle families: landspeeder, speeder bike, skim speeder, and podracer. The official pages also confirm Arcade, Scenarios, and online races for up to 12 players. They do not publish a complete acceleration, top-speed, boost, or handling chart, so the best pre-release guide is a comparison framework rather than a fabricated fastest-vehicle ranking.

The four confirmed classes

ClassConfirmed identityBest first test
LandspeederA named class in the official vehicle roster.Check how it handles wide turns, contact, and mixed-surface routes.
Speeder bikeA named class in the official vehicle roster.Check narrow lines, recovery after a mistake, and precision targets.
Skim speederA named class in the official vehicle roster.Check its response on open circuits and elevation changes.
PodracerPlayable in Arcade from the start and used for online events.Use Arcade to learn the class before taking it into a 12-player race.

The test prompts are not hidden stats. They are consistent ways to compare vehicles when the developer has not published numbers.

Match the mode to the question

Arcade: learn the line

Arcade includes time trials and precision driving challenges, and official material says podracing is available from the beginning. Use this mode to repeat one circuit without campaign branch pressure. Record the target, route, vehicle class, and whether a mistake costs time or position.

Scenarios: learn the objective

Scenarios are described as unique events and challenges. Because the individual scenario list is not yet public, use them to test how a vehicle responds when the goal is not simply finishing first. Note the objective before judging the vehicle.

Online: learn the contact rules

The official pages confirm online multiplayer up to 12 players, rank climbing, rival challenges, and podracer-focused events. Press coverage and developer comments also frame contact as part of the design. Treat the first online session as a test of traffic awareness, recovery, and clean re-entry to the racing line, not just raw lap speed.

A launch-day garage worksheet

For each class, capture these values from the game itself:

  • acceleration and top speed as displayed;
  • boost charge and recovery rules;
  • turning response on a wide and narrow circuit;
  • collision recovery and off-line control;
  • repair, upgrade, or perk requirements;
  • which Arcade, Scenario, and online events allow the class.

Only after all four classes have the same fields should you publish a best-vehicle conclusion. A vehicle that wins a straight-line time trial may be a poor fit for a precision challenge or a crowded multiplayer event.

Podracer-specific preparation

Podracers deserve their own test because the official story trailer calls them out in two places: they are playable in Arcade from the start, and online includes podracer-focused events. Complete an Arcade run first, learn how the vehicle recovers from a wall or rival contact, and then take the same class online with one goal: finish a clean lap under traffic.

What is still unknown

The official sources do not yet establish class statistics, upgrade trees, split-screen support, ranked playlist rules, a cross-progression policy, or a full track-specific tier list. Steam now lists Cross-Platform Multiplayer, but its exact platform matrix and party rules remain unpublished; see the cross-platform status guide. The game modes guide lists the confirmed modes and the fastest vehicle page should be updated with release-build timing rather than pre-release assumptions.
