Start here
This is the first page to read if Star Wars Galactic Racer is your first racing game in a while. The game is not out yet (launch October 6, 2026), so this guide covers transferable fundamentals plus what the developer has officially confirmed about the racing. Confirmed, game-specific tuning arrives at launch.
✅ What’s official: You play as Shade, a lone racer chasing revenge and glory in the underground Galactic League of the Outer Rim, in the years after the fall of the Empire. This is a combat racer — you don’t just outdrive rivals, you slam, shunt, and take them down. There’s no Force and no prophecy — just skill, strategy, and the will to rise.
The three habits that win races
Whatever the final systems look like, these carry across almost every arcade racer:
- Slow in, fast out. Brake before the corner, not in it. A clean exit speed beats a late-braking lunge over a full lap.
- Manage your boost. Spend boost on straights where it compounds, not into corners where you’ll scrub it off. The trailer clearly shows an engine-plasma boost.
- Pick your fights. This is a combat racer. Learn when a takedown is worth the time it costs you, and when you’re better off just holding your line.
Which vehicle class should a beginner pick?
✅ The game confirms four classes of repulsorcraft — landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and podracers — each with distinct physics and playstyles. See all vehicle classes for what’s known about each.
📖 Based on how these classes usually behave, a landspeeder is the natural starter: the most grounded, forgiving handling to learn tracks on. Leave the high-ceiling podracer until your lines are clean — its speed punishes mistakes hard.
Your first hour (expected)
📖 A sensible opening loop for most racers:
- Run the opening event twice: once cautiously to learn the layout, once pushing.
- Bank starting credits on a forgiving landspeeder before committing to a specialist class.
- Spend your first upgrades on handling/grip, not top speed. See best build.
What we will confirm at launch
- The real control scheme and any assist options
- The actual starter vehicle and opening event
- How the combat (slam/shunt/takedown) actually rewards or punishes you
- Whether there’s a difficulty setting for newcomers
